WS6 exhaust

is the stock WS6 exhaust any different than the regular exhaust? and does any body elses exhaust rumble and pop(no back firing) coming down from a higher rpm? i just reved it up a little in the parking lot and listened to it. im sure it does it on the road but i dont notice then really. thanks Trey

The reason it pops and whatnot is because of not enough air comming in vs. air going out. Correct me if i'm wrong.

The WS6 exhaust is different then a stock exhaust. You can find a WS6 exhaust that looks just like a stock 95-02 Trans Am Exhaust. They were from Certain Formula WS6 exhausts had slightly larger mufflers than the 98+ WS6s and also had the Oval Tips from the Stock TA. I'm sure people will come on here and post about how the above info is incorrect and Post "How it Really is" but this is what i am told by another source. And to all those who disagree, why didnt you post earlier.

Yes i have the poping when i let the car wind down in a gear. Its the change in air going out verse the air going in the exhaust looking for an equallibrium.

thanks i asked a friend who is knowledgable and he said my WS6 has a 3" intermediate pipe and that was the only difference he thought. i figured it was normal but this being the only LT1 i have ever driven let alone own i just wasnt sure. and the fact that the only other LT1 owner i know has a 96 ss with the slp exhuast didnt help much either. thanks for the info. I believe that the intermediate pipe was the same. Get under and measure and I think you will find a 2 3/4 OD pipe. I'm not positive on the differences, but I think it was in the muffler internals. The tailstubs might have been different, but the pipe routings and sizes were the same.

Hey TA Dreaming, hate to change the subject, but where did you find out the number of cars exactly like yours? I'd be very interested to check this on mine. Thanks!

You do have some info on '96 Pontiacs? Any chance you could tell me how many '96 White M6 WS-6 Trans Am's w/T-Tops were made? I'd really appreciate it!

total production of WS6 cars: 2575
Trans Am: 2051
Formula: 524

Total white production(all TAs): 1452

damn well i was just reading down the list. it basically stops after that for trans am. so all i can say is that there were 1117 manual TA WS6 cars. out of 2974 manual TA's. sorry i wish i could give more but its not lsited. hope this helped Trey
