Worth getting this chip?

A fellow TA owner I met when I first got my car has offered to sell me two parts. The first I think I will get, a ram air hood. It looks to be in good condition. The second one is a hypertech chip, is it worth getting the chip on a pretty much stock car? I am planning on doing heads/exhaust and possibly pullies this winter. So with that in mind is the chip worth it? (hes selling it for $50 Canadian)

The chip isnt worth it...just save your money...

Get your PCM tuned after you start getting some bigger mods...

I pretty sure only the 93's have chips. But i could be wrong. But like faceless said its not worth it. Just get a mail order tune. From like Madz28, or pcmforless, there are a few others but i can't remember the names. You will see a little gain over the stock program. But imo i would wait till you have some more mods to get a tune done.

Plus with those Hypertech "chips," you ALWAYS have to run 93+ octane...

As it has been pointed out, technically, it's not a "chip". The hypertech add in piece goes in between the motor wiring harness and the PCM. '93 f-bodies are the last that utilize a burned chip. I say use your money elsewhere. After you get a good bit of mods, go with either a mail order tune or a dyno tune(dyno would be better).

That hypertech chip is a piece of crap...just plain out crap. Save the money. I would also save your money on the pullies too and get something else.

You don't NEED to run 93. All we have here is 91...in the hottest spot in the country and I don't have any problems with detonation. Sure would be nice to have some 92 or 93 around here.

I have the Jet power module stage II and you can tell the diff. I drove a 1996 all stock and then my 1994 for a side by side to see the diff. and you could tell mine ran better, better accel. unless my 1994 was just alot faster then the 1996.
