will octane booster help?

I know this is such a ricey Q but i had to ask

with my 6, all it did was worsen my mileage, and slow me down...

but with the 8, (especially lt1) running 93 or something instead of 87 helps the car alot...

so how much will it help to add some booster, or run 100 octane?

any time, mph gain?

and it'd lower knocks too right?

If your car is bone stock you really won't see any gain from 100 octane unleaded. The additional octane is a benefit if you run nitrous, boost, or high compression. You might consider mixing in a few gallons of 100 with standard premium as a little extra edge against detonation (especially on hot days).

Octane booster is a complete waste of money, don't waste your time or $$$.

You can definately feel the difference with racing fuel..

However, why would you need to unless you race everyday ?

Not on a stock engine. Only if you were experiencing knock, and if a stock engine is, then you shouldn't be racing it until its fixed!

You could use some octane booster, but you would have to use a crapload to do anything. Just to let you know, thier "points" are tenths of a whole octane number.

1 tank of 93 octane + 1 bottle of 3 point booster = 93.3 octane

If you really want to raise your octane and not pay through the nose, either use racing fuel or add some toulene (or xylene) to your fuel.

That may be.

All I am saying is that on any car, you can feel a noticable difference with racing fuel.

That's all.

Any more octane than necessary to prevent knock will slow you down. It s a complete waste of money on a stock vehicle. I mix in SUnoco 104 with 94 to achieve an octane rating of 95.5 when I am atthe track. That is it, and I have significantly more mods than you.

The lower the octane gas you use burns quicker, and cleaner, if you have no detonation or (knock Retard, which could be another problem other then fuel) higher octane fuel just slows you down, higher octane fuel burns slower then low octane fuel Same go's for octane booster, all it does is slow down the burn

No way. Tnthub and Pro/StreetSS summed it up quite well, so I'll just leave it at that.

Read section 6.13 on this link. It talks about using octane that is higher than what you need.
