Will exhaust leak AFTER 02 sensors cause bad readings?

Will an exhuast leak right after the O2 sensors cause a problem? I have 93 stlye SLP headers with the y-pipe, I have a slight leak at my y-pipe (do-nut gaskets) will this throw the readings off ?

I have new fel pro gaskets ready to replace, But I'm curious as to what it would affect either way...

Thanks in advance...

Depends how close the leak is to the O2's. If it's within something like 8 inches, it could have an effect.

what kind of effects could it have?

your car would run rich. The oxygen from the leak makes your car think it is way lean, so it adds fuel

i do kinda smell fuel in the exhuast fumes....
