Will this engine harness work??
Will this engine harness work??
I just picked up a used but in very good condition engine harness for a 97 Camaro 6-speed. Will it work for my 94 Firebird 6-speed or will I have to modify it? I don't mind modifying it, I just need to know before I start. Thanks.
Re: Will this engine harness work??
What's the difference and how will I need to modify it? Which is better, OBDI or OBDII? I've heard of people switching from one to the other (can't remember which way though) whats the benefit of that and why do they do it?
P.S.- What is the breakdown of years for OBDI/OBDII?

Re: Will this engine harness work??
I'm not positive on the PCM side if there is or isnt a difference, but on the engine side, the later model harness will have a different optispark connector (if you got the opti pigtail with the harness), a different coil connector, a crank position sensor connector (which obd1 doesnt have), possibly a different air pump connector (not sure if they changed those). If it's all the same to you, I'd go with an OBD2 pcm. You shouldnt need to modify it, the extra connectors shouldnt hurt you I dont think, but I'm not positive on that, you might want to give one of the pcm programmers a call that frequently do the obd1 to obd2 swaps, I'm sure they could answer all the questions you have.
93 were ECM controlled
94-95 were OBD1 PCM
96-97 were OBD2 PCM
