Why would the car shift normal in 3rd and not in OD??

Why would the car shift normal in 3rd and not in OD??
My car shifts fine when in third, but when I drive with it in OD it slips into OD. If I put it into OD from third it goes in fine. Also, the car will shift fine through all gears when floored. I would appericate any ideas, thanks.
