Whats wrong: timing or bent valves?
Recently my water pump was going out so I decided to replace/upgrade it. After I installed my new CSI electric WP I took it on a test drive and was driving it normal when all of the sudden it tripped out and it seemed like it went into N (so it revved up). After it went up to like 5K so I let off the gas and either I turned off the ign. or it died when the rpm's went down(I really dont remember).
Anyways it was a no start from there so I figured out my timing chain was broken.(and later found out some teeth on the crank and cam gears were broken off). I fixed all of that and put it back together....still a no start...no fire from the opti....so I got a Delteq.... Intsalled great....Starts now!....but the idles at like 400 RPM and sounds like sh!t( sounds like its barely staying alive) .....bent valves from the timing chain break or did I install my opti wrong and the timings all messed up? |
Re: Whats wrong: timing or bent valves?
Do a compression test...should tell you if any valves are not seating (bent)

Re: Whats wrong: timing or bent valves?
Was planning on that one. I will. But is there a slim chance that I just put my opti on wrong and the optical senser is broke?

Re: Whats wrong: timing or bent valves?
I would say that you have VERY good chance of finding a bent valve(s)
Do a compression test. There shouldnt be alot of variance between cylinders. If there are bent valves, might wanna worry about some valve to piston contact as well. |
