Whats wrong?
 

ok so today im cruising along wit the z in drive then i shifted it from drive to overdrive and something flys out from under the car and bangs around for awhile then gets left behind on the pavement the tranny shifted normally after whatver it was fell off. I go home put it in park then when leaving put it into reverse but didnt feel it go into geat but it did then put it in overdrive and it acts like it is in drive then when i put it in park it acts ike it is in nuetral but after you play around with it it goes into gear but even in overdrie it acts like it is in regular drive im thinking that this is just a nut or bolt that came off of the lever that puts the tranny in different gears so am i thinking inthe right direction or do u think the tranny is fried ?

Probably a bolt out of the shifter cable bracket. Better take a look before the whole thing falls off.

I would get under there right away and check everything out.
you probably lost some linkage so I would get up in there ASAP.
