Whats the difference between the comp lifters?

What physically or mechanically is the main difference between the comp stock replacement lifters and the comp R lifters?

Will the stock replacments fail before the R lifters?
Is there any difference in amount of preload needed between the two?

Just wondering why everyone speaks of them so highly.

The Comp Rs are designed to act like a solid lifter in the higher RPMs. I think they call it an "anti-pump up" design or something like that. They will prevent valve float better than a standard hyd. lifter. As far as which lasting longer I am not sure. The preload is less on the Comp Rs. 1/8 to 1/4 turn. Standard hyd. lifters are generally 1/2 turn or more.

Actually the preload on the Comp R's is 0 to 1/8th turn. Do a search, there was a recent thread on setting the lash with the R series lifter.

Yeah, but like a lot of info on here, it changes with the tides. I think it depends on the set up.

As noted in all these threads on the "R" lifters... it does depend on the setup.

Some will do better with more preload than others... just gotta see what yours likes. Everyone wants an easy answer when there aint one.
