Well there are differances, but if you get the entire engine and use the '93 Electronics you'll be fine. It has the vented opti so that would be a plus. However 115k isn't much for an LT1, why do you need an engine swap??

You mean the 1993 does not have the vented opti-a minus. The intake manifold and fuel pipe arrangement is different on the 1993. If you swapped your manifold on, that would not be a problem and you could use your same engine harness.

different intake manifold? mine looks the same? the tranny you have is electronically controlled, you might need to find a way to tune that into a 93 prom. it is speed density instead of using a mass air sensor. some say thats a plus some say its a downfall, but either way thats a little different. 93 has hardened pushrods and some other stuff, but like he said, unless your motor has some serious problems why buy this one? the motor you have should be in really good shape still. the opti may or may not be bad unless youve replaced it since you bought the car. other than that use synthetic oil to keep your engine clean and you'll be in good shape.

The 1993 intake is a different part number from the 1994-1997's.

Re: thinking of putting a 93 lt1 into my 97 what should i know?

I would recommend keeping the 97 electronics on the engine. Switching to 93 stuff will be complicated and not worth it.
You will need an OBDII knock sensor (swap from your 97), the 93-94 opti harness and you will need to keep the 97 o2 sensors. (you can just swap over your exhaust manifolds)
The IAC valve on the 93 is different than the one on your 97, so you will also need to swap the whole TB or just the bottom plate. That's about it.
You will also need your PCM reprogrammed or else it will set a couple of codes for missing the crank position sensor, etc.

Re: thinking of putting a 93 lt1 into my 97 what should i know?

maybe you should buy the 93 motor and do stuff like headers and heads and cam and any sort of mods on it while the engine is on the crane instead of in the car. that would make it much easier and you could do a true engine dyno while you are at it. if you dont mind me asking how cheap was the motor he is selling? it might not be a bad idea to dress it up real nice. Even if you use 97 sensors you'll need to add a MAF wont you? how bout a FAST system? i see potential for a nice "crate motor" that youd mod the pants off of then drop it in, but thats costly...383 with nice ported AFR heads and powdercoating. mmmmm

Re: thinking of putting a 93 lt1 into my 97 what should i know?

well the 93 already has a c306 cam and i am going to be putting on some lloyd elliote heads. I have LT headers on my car already i hope they will transfer to the 93 ok. MADZ28 if i switch the intake and TB from my car to the 93 any thing else i would have to use from it. Will my Opti work on the 93? and i am guessing the alternater WP and such will all go from my car to the 93 with no problems?

Thanks for all the help just want to make sure what i am getting into..

for who ever asked how much i am paying...around $700

As already mentioned, the optis are not the same. The 93 has a smaller amp alternator, but can be swapped with the later one. W/p is the same.
