What to tune first
Greetings all, I want to learn how to tune my 1994 Z28. The net has so much info on software, tools, techniques, etc that its kind of overwhelming.
My questions is in what order do you like to tune your PCM? Do you prefer to tune the MAF then VE then PE ,etc? Hoping your feedback will help narrow down my focus of reading. My Car details.. 1994 z28 A4 Long tubes, straight 3" y pipe, magnaflow catback 58mm, CAI, ported ends & de-screened MAF (came that way going back to a stock MAF) 3:43, 1LE driveshaft, with stock suspension Deleted AIR, ABS, CATs, AC, EGR Using Cats, tunerpro, Scan9495, and AGX Wideband installed. |

Re: What to tune first
Since your setup is basically “bolt on”, the first thing you need to do is run a data log under a wide range of operating conditions as a measure of the health of the control system, and adequacy of the stock tune. https://www.camaroz28.com/forums/com...95-lt1-874306/ Then learn how to read the data, looking for weak points and problems, or post the data log here so one of us can help you. https://www.camaroz28.com/forums/com...-guide-886891/ The worst thing you can do is start tuning without insuring all the sensors and actuators are good and doing their job. For example, to cure a problem with unacceptable long term fuel corrections by altering the MAF calibration is not the way to do it, until you have verified the performance of the O2 sensors, problem free injectors, absence of exhaust leaks, vacuum leaks, etc.. |
