Arrow what temp does your camaro run???

i am just curious, i ordered a 160* thermostadt from autozone, i put it in, bled the lines, etc,...and my car runs about 175-180*...i was just wonderin if they ordered the 180 instead of the 160 or is that were its known to run?

thanks,
steve

p.s. went to track a two weekends ago, and pulled a 1.97 60ft, and a 8.89...all stock and 2.73's

i have a 160 and my car runs 165 driving, 170 sitting.

i think thats probably too cold for optimum performance, ive heard closer to 180 is better.

Sitting it goes ~180, driving 170. 160 stat, CSI pump, and lower fan turn ons. My car stays warmer driving because it sits so fricken low the radiator gets little air.

stock thermostat....when driving...it hits the first line and while sitting it stays at the last line before the redline.

WOW.. That is nuts..

Mine is halfway to the first line driving, barely above the bottom line on the freeway, and right below the first line sitting... I also have the 160 Stat, reprorammed fans and the Felbro 1074 HGs, which have revised coolant holes...

When sitting mine will almost get to the 180 mark. When driving it sits right between the first mark and the 180 mark. I have 160 degree thermo and the fan is programmed to come on early.

i agree with bono. I did the 160 thermo and it didnt do dick squat. But with the fans turning on earlier (and a man switch for the staging lanes) the car never gets over 170 except when the a/c is turned on. Prorac1

With the 160* stat, I get about 170-175 sitting w/AC on. When the car's moving, the needle is kissing the 0 on the 160 mark. I would have stuck with the 180, but with the supercharger, I wanted it to run colder just to be on the safe side. Don't forget to add the purple ice, that helps a lot.
