Hey the only thing I forgot to do when I installed the blower was to get a bigger tb. What size would you all reccomend on a stock heads/cam car. Later in the future the motor will be rebuilt with low low compression to get some good boost going on. I want something that I can use now and then use later as well. Here is the mod list to help you all decide.

it sounds like if you later build a motor with heads and a blower cam i think you would want a 58mm tb. Only thing is that you have to pull the intake to port it for the tb. I know some people port it with the intake on but i would never chance it.

 

Me niether. It's way to risky. I've seen a step by step, but way to many metal shavings produced in the process. You can go with the 52mm and stick with it or port it to 58mm and go with the 58mm TB. Seems like you have the money take it off and have someone port it and go with the larger TB...based on your mods so far.

 

You can port the intake yourself all you have to do is gasket match the TB. I don't know if anyone has tried it but you might be able to get a 58mm TB and run it on an unported intake until you have the manifold off to do your heads. Then you can port it.

 

Opening up the throttle bores with the manifold on the car is actually pretty easy. I did it on my TA with no problems. FWIW, I think a Holley TB would probably work without porting the manifold. Mine is pretty thick, and I don't think the blades actually protrude into the plenum, if they do, it's not by very much.

 

Do they make a sinlge blade t/b now that is larger that the others?

 

Yes AS&M makes a monoblade. I think for most cars though that would be a little over kill.

Yes but he's only running 8 PSI. In reality, the stock TB isn't a real restriction yet.

Put a 58mm TB on right now, it will be fine. Then when you pull the intake port it for the 58. You'll be alot happier with it over the 52mm IMO. Monoblade would be to much for you're set up as it sits right now. Get heads/cam then go mono. Also be sure to get a bigger fuel pump and an adj. fuel pressure regulator for the set up you have now.

 

Hey guys, I've heard I can put a 52mm on my 96 Z with no problems....is the intake allready 52mm? Is it worth the money? How much HP gain?

 

The stock bore on the intake is 48mm but you can put the 52mm on with no probs. at all. You didn't list you're mods, so I can't say if the 52mm would help you yet or not. A good rule of thumb would be to have all bolt on's and heads/cam/headers before going to a bigger TB. Hope this helps

 

The stock TB is 48mm but the stock intake ports are 52mm. 52 is the largest you can run anything bigger you need to port the intake.
