What size skinnies/tires for street?

I was originally planning on the 15x3.5's up front w/ some off the shelf radial tires but some people have mentioned the 15x3.5's are track use only. What would be a good and safe setup to run as far as front tires for them to be pretty safe on the street? I am running the 15x10's prostars in the back with the new m/t radials as soon as they come out so I want something to match up front. I need to know width, backspace, and what tires to go with? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I searched but never really found a solution for a car that sees a lot of street use. Obviously the 3.5's are the best option for a track-only car. Thanks!

Go 15x6, and run 165r15 tires on them. Revtime has this setup and it looks a lot better than the 165r15's on my 15x4 wheels. Sorry thats all the into I have for ya.

Does he do a lot of street driving? Does he know if they hold up good even with a few potholes from time to time?

I appreciate your insight. Thanks and keep 'em coming.

He doesn't do a much driving as I do, but it is his daily driver in the summer. Mine is my daily driver all year, and I run the skinnies all year, even in the snow. I drive about 80 miles/day.

A 15X6 will hold up fine for street driving.
Weld reccommends at least a 15x5 for everyday driving.
The 15X3.5 is a drag race only rim, my cousin used to work for weld as a customer service rep and I have heard some horror stories about guys breaking rims running them on the street, keep in mind also Weld will not warranty a frontrunner if it breaks while driving it on the street ( they won,t fix or refund the price of the wheel or the damage done to your car).
I also should mention I have Weld Pro Star XPs which have a forged center section.
If a light wheel is what your looking for regular Weld pro star or draglites would be good, even better would be Bogarts.
If you want a good street rim that looks awesome and holds up very well then I suggest the Weld XPs.

So what backspacing should I get for a 15x5 rim? I'm not sure if backspacing is a black art or just simple math. Since the 15x3.5's need 1.75" plus a spacer, I figure the 15x5's would need 3.25" bs and the spacer?

Anyone confirm this?

Awesome a pic.....I saved it in my favorites since I always tell people to get the 15x6's. Now I need to get a pic of my 15x4's.

Get the 15 x 4's why would you wanna get a 15x5 or a 15x6, might as well keep your heavy a$$ stock wheels My buddy runs around on his 15x3.5's all day long and he pulls consistent 10.5's at the track. Their drag racing wheel's guy's come on, obviously their not meant for cornering so if you get the 3.5's there's no reason they wouldn't work unless you go auto-xing around town.

I was just saying IMO the 165's look better mounted on Mike's 15x6 wheels than my 15x4 wheels.

What is the backspace on your rims revtime? I love the look of the fronts and I saw these on summit:

15x6 w/ 3.5" bs

Do you use a spacer?

Thanks man I appreciate your help.

I have 15x4 Centerline Telstars with 165/15's on my car. They did not require any spacers and they look great. I drive my car daily on the 15x4's and have no problems. I do swerve to miss all pot holes and I take curves at the posted speeds. So what I am saying is don't be afraid to run a skinny all the time, just remember that you don't have 245's in the front anymore when you aprouch big curves.
If you choose to run a 15x6 wheel in the front it will still be much lighter than the stock wheel and if you run the 165's up to about 40 psi you won't have any more rolling resistance than the rest of us.
