My stock fuel pump is on its way out, running 15:1 lean at WOT over 3000 RPM. What should I go with to replace the pump with? LS1 Motorsports told me that the Walbro pump is not a bolt in pump and requires a lot of modification to fit. Should I just go with a stock pump, or aftermarket? The stock seems to be around $75-100 more than an aftermarket pump. I plan on doing the access door method to replace the pump. What do you guys suggest for this project?

go to thunderracing.com they have a racetronix kit that includes every thing you need to make the walbro 255lph work in you car.
the whole pump and kit is $150

An oem Delco pump should meet your needs just fine. I have used Wlabro FPs and they are nice, but you won't see any benefit from a high flow FP in your light modded car.

I replaced my stock pump with the Racetronix Walbro pump kit for $150 from ThunderRacing last fall. I agree you wont see any gain with it on a mostly stock car but if you are ever planning on doing more mods (aren't we all) than it's not a bad idea to upgrade it while you are at it. It won't hurt anything having a stronger pump, your fuel pressure requlator will still only allow the same amount of fuel pressure. Plus like you said it's signifigantly cheaper than the stock pump. Whatever you do, don't get the one from Summit, it's the same Walbro pump as everyone elses but their "install kit" sucks, it has horrible instructions, doesnt include fuel bucket glue that you cant find anywhere among other things that were wrong with their kit. I returned it then had to wait another week to get the Racetronix kit that I should have spent $25 extra for the first time, Summit's kit was a big mistake trust me

I also need to replace the fuel pump, but after doing a search I'm still abit confused. I have a Walbro 255lph pump ready to install now. Do I need the Racetronix "plug-n-play" harness? If so, can I purchase just the harness from Racetronix or do I have to get the complete $240.00 kit? Thanks!

The "Plug and Play" wiring harness boosts the capability of the wires feeding the fuel pump. On high power cars, this is desireable since more pump voltage equals more pump output. In your case, the stock wiring is fine so you don't need it. The $150 kit still has a plug in GM-to-Walbro harness so it's still plug and play.

When you say "high powered" I assume you mean >500 rwhp. Reason I asked is that I'm getting ready to do heads w/ a 383 stroker, CC 306 cam, etc., w/ a goal of approx 400 rwhp (NA) plus adding 100-150 shot of juice. Just want to make sure I have sufficient fp and fuel source. Thanks!

I may be wrong, but isn't the Holley pump just a private labeled Walbro pump?

From what I've heard here they are all Walbro pumps. The pump I got from Summit was the same pump I got from Racetronix, they just had different installation components.

I'm guessing that the holley doesn't come with everything that I need to install it?

It's hard to tell from their description of it. I assumed Summits kit for $125 was complete though and it wasnt. I would contact them for more info before I ordered that. Better yet just save the $5 and get the Racetronix kit for $150, it's got everything you'll need to install it, it's a really well done package.

Looks like I will be going with the Thunder Racing Racetronix $150 kit. I am going to have my car scanned and fuel pressure checked on Friday to make sure 100% that it is the fuel pump, then will be ordering it.
