What makes Vigilante TCs so great?

I was just skimming across a few parts sites and stumbled over torque converters.

I currently have a Vigilante 2400rpm stall in my car, and I love it. I paid $700 for it. On another site I just saw an SLP torque converter with a 2400rpm stall for $350- half the price of the Vigilante.

What makes Vigilante so much better than other torque converters on the market to warrant charging DOUBLE that of a lot of other reputable companies for their torque converters?

when torque converters blow up, its expensive. I've heard of every brand by vigi blowing up.

The Vigilante uses heavy duty internals. These high quality parts allow it to absorb alot of abuse without failing.

If it costs more it must be better right? That's what most people think...........

I'm sure it has all the goodies that you would want, such as an anti balloon plate if you plan on spraying off the line, heavy duty bearings, and a smaller diameter. I got all that in my Midwest but for $440

I've only heard good things about them, but midwest seems to be just as good IMO.

The vigilante's are 9.5in convertors and have all sorts of new technology. What size is the SLP? Are they stalled 12in, if so thats why they are cheap.

12 and 11in convertors are big, heavy, slippery, inefficent(SP?). I don't care what Car Craft says, B&M and TCI spend alot of money with them, and those companies sell alot of 11in 2200-2400 convertors.

But if you ask anyone who has a new 9.5 convertor or has rode/drove a car with one you will understand the difference. I have a 2800 9.5 ACT behind my 406, that convertor is damn sweet. You can't tell its there unless you step on it. I had a 2400 12inch behind a 350 in the same car and let me tell you there is no comparison.

I did alot of research on convertors before I bought one, and decided to go with what the fast boys run, and I am really happy I did.

I love my Viglinate Converter. The thing is pretty much bullet proof from the way I have driven it so far

I have never seen anyone personally have bad experience with their converters, but locally we had a bad batch of them come in with some bad bearings. But the problem was corrected and they are still the most reputable converter out there.

What size are the Midwest converters? I was under the impression they were 12 inches.

9'' converters are much more efficient than 11 and 12 inch ones

I was more than happy to fork over the extra cash for a vigilante for the warranty that it comes with and the very REPUTATION it has for not having any problems with them.

They are good converters, but there are LOTS of other fish in the sea.

Coan, Edge, TCI, Midwest, ATI, Pro-Torque...and of course the other "name" TC out there, Yank.

What you don't know...might hurt you.

FASTZ, how do you like your Midwest converter? That might be the route I go if they make em in a 9.5 inch converter. How big a stall are you running?
