What to look for in a Tranny cooler??
 

I'm looking for a good, yet low price tranny cooler. What do the different gvw ratings mean and what's the diff. between -6 AN and Barbed fittings? -6 AN is a connector size & Barbed you put a c-clamp on right? What's an acceptable pressure drop? What are your recommendations?

i had a really good cooler from hayden...

the gross vehicle weight ratings are for what kind of pressure it can handle, and the cooling capabilities, what you want to avoid... those kind that have the tubes coming out the sides that make a u-turn...

another board member recommended to me a hayden cooler, the largest one, from trans go. it was rated at 300psi and for a over like 38,000 gvw or something sick like that... you want the biggest possible because when it comes to trannies, the cooler... the better...

and its called the "transsaver" made by hayden, from trans go.

I got a b&m supercooler from Summit for around $40. 24,000 gvw. It's pretty decent

The 24,000 GVW B&M Super Cooler is 49.99 through Summit Racing right now. Also, I recieved an Email from them yesterday saying that most of their products are 10% off right now. Not sure how long this applies though. If you go with another cooler from B&M any bigger than this they don't come as a kit, with the hoses, connectors ect. Just the cooler itself.


GVW = Gross Vehicle Weight. The GVW is just telling you up to how large of a vehicle that the cooler will be sufficient for.
