What gears?

What gears do most of y'all find most successful? I am wanting to stay in the 3.08-4.11 range. It will be a street/strip car so I need decent gears. For now the only mods will be headers and exhaust until I get it running and get some more money. Any help?

are u sticking with the 10 bolt rear or going to a 12 bolt, 9inch? if u are going with the 10 bolt, i wouldnt go any higher than 3.73 (and weld your axle tubes).
if u go 12 bolt or 9", go with 4.10 or 4.11 gear (if it is an manual) if it is an auto, go with 3.73's

Is your car an A4 or an M6?

I'd say 3.73's. But a good converter will do as much or more than a gear swap!

3.73s will give you a better trap RPM making for a better et but you will tack closer to 3000 rpms at cruising 70 MPH. With the 3.42s your trap RPM will not be as close to your shift point like 3.73s but going 70 MPH with 342s you only tack 2400 rpms.
Most people I know that like to cruise with their 13 0r 12 second car run the 342s. Its one of the better decisions I have made with my setup. Oh yea Better gas milage with 3.42s as well.
Daily driver 3.42s not daily driver 3.73s or 4.10s
My opinion and experience and im still kinda new and learning.
Hope this helped

It is an auto.

It is my daily driver kind of. I am using my v-6 now but will probably sell it if once I get the LT1 up and running. I am sticking with stock gears until I get my 12 bolt/9 inch. I don't want a drastic decrease in gas mileage from lower gears. I am more less wanting to keep it street legal but make it a QUICK car with low ET. Also I am planning on putting a 2 stage NX system on the car. So who recommends what now? I think I have limited it to 3.42s 3.73s or 4.11s? I am not worried about the extra 600 RPM either. So any more input would be great!

sorry, i should have mentioned that in the original post.

Which gears (3.42 or 3.73) would best accompany a vigi 3200?
