What Cam and Valve Springs?

Well I'm rebuilding my motor. And the heads I am getting for it are stock lt1 heads ported. With a port matched intake manifold. Gonna be mainly a weekend driver so I was wondering what cam and valve springs I should go with. Its gonna have roller lifters and 1.6 self aligning roller rockers. I want to go pretty big with this cam. I've heard that the cc306 is about the biggest you can go on stock heads. So I wanted somthing probly just above that but not by too much.

Oh and I forgot to mention. This is more then likly going to be on stock fuel system except for possibly a fuel pressure regulator.

Rather than going with some old tech shelf cam...I would have Bret(strokerace on here) do you a nice custom grind so you can have "EXACTLY" what your looking for (and need for your combo to make max power)......The Comp 918 Beehive springs are a great choice for the size cam you'll most likely go with....If you were unaware, they have "several" advantages compared to a regular style spring... lighter at the valve tip , smaller lighter retainers, less harmonics, more room till coilbind, and slightly more power because of all this(sometimes as much as 10-15 HP)...............also, If you haven't purchased them already, go with the "NON" Self Aligning Comp pro-mag rockers and some GM guideplates.......I would never trust SA rockers on much of anything, no less with a decent size cam (like your wanting)spinning some rpms..they are "way" more prone to failure......good luck........Joe:cool:.......PS How big your able to go on cam size , all depends on the amount and quality of your LT1 heads port work.....for example, a set of LT1 LE2 or LE3 package heads, done by Lloyd Elliott, that flow in the 280 to 290 area, can handle MUCH MUCH more cam than a cc306.......Joe

You might be getting a deal, but seriously you don't want to run SA rockers with a decent size cam. Sell em and do it the right way like Joe B. suggested.
