Re: What cam should i use?

I am just sharing my view but,,,, m6 and 4.10s will make any cam streetable.

Nick's (96ta(nick)) has a 245/25x 600+/600+ in a 355 and I love it. No problems driving it whatsoever.

I have a cc306 and would not want to go any lower. Peak power is @ 5900-6k on stock heads. Keeps the low end grunt, pulls well up top.

Figure out your goals, and plan ahead. If you are considering LE talk to him and do a full package.

Ya gots to be more specific: how much power are you looking for, what kind of driving do you do, what do you mean by "pretty" streetable, etc.

Without doing heads, you obviously won't get the full perfomance of any cam.
You can go with a very mild cam and get into the 350 RWHP with heads and headers (enough to put you in the mid 12s if you can get all that power to the ground.) That's the key as far as times. As far as top speed, your talking big cam big air, but perhaps not all that tame at idle and around town driving.

Some like big idle, loud noise, high revs. For me, I want a sleeper that looks tame, sounds tame, idles like a lamb: that way I don't look like a fool when I get my A$$ handed to me by a ricer on juice.

So waddya want. I can give you some hints on the tame side, but leave it up to the others for the rad stuff. JMHO

As far as I know you can't get an LE cam without the heads.

Re: What cam should i use?

I need to know what cam u guys recommend for a mild build, im lookin to get 400-450 soild horse power at the crank after i do the heads too. i wanted something like the cc305 or the cc306, or a hot cam, basically right now the motor is pretty much bone stock, but this winter i should have full exhaust, good tune, and i wanted to do a cam if i could afford it. I want somthing thats going to be good for the street because its not going to be a track car.

Re: What cam should i use?

you might be best off saving up for the LE1 or LE2 heads/cam combo. if not the cc503 has some good reviews from people here.

Re: What cam should i use?

An LE1 package sounds like your best bet. With a good supporting cast (appropriate injectors, maybe a 52mm TB, good flowing headers & exhaust, etc) all your power and driveability goals will be met.

I'd get in touch with Lloyd and talk it over with him - he's very helpful.

I like it, but it has a reputation for being hard on valvetrain components, so you gotta use good quality parts with it.

That's a clever way of putting it!

If you have the heads and then want the cam later you can do that too...

1 vote for the 503. With a 6 speed, I'd probably go with the 306.

Better than the 210/224? How much of a gain did you see?

chrism400: Those are smokin' times for that cam and mods! You've really shown what good suspension, setup, and driving can do!

Thanks Dave! Nice mods on yours. How far does that cam pull on your 383?
