i am putting long tube headrs on and under the headers and above the spark plugs on the drivers side is a sensor or something and i broke it off. does anyone know what it is and what i should do about it, just replace it or do i really need it?

 

It is the coolant temp sensor. You are going to need to replace it.

uh oh...I broke the wire connecting that. I am in the middle of a header install. I just kind of taped it back together. What will happen if that sensor isnt properly working?

 

Your temp gauge on the dash will not work if it is not in working order.
