Well 260k she finally hurt what’s next
I’m keeping the car and I have to deal with emissions 95 and older I’m exempt and mine is a 1993.
my budget is whatever but I’m not going to put $20k in a motor either lol
options
rebuild what I got 383 get heads and cam package and call it a day?
order a golem engine or some long block
or try to convert to a ls 5.3 6.0 6.2 are everywhere in my area
but after spending $1000 plus 1000’s more to convert and rebuilding ls motor plus tranny etc I just don’t see it as being ahead over lt1
i had the same opti spark and everything for 20 plus years and 260k it was reliable to say the least
but I’m open to anything and like to hear if I’m looking at this wrong.
thanks Art

400 rwHP through what type transmission? Ported stock LT1 heads on a 355, and well-matched cam will do it. Injectors, headers, throttle body, tune
Define “hurt” - Is the block not salvageable? Shouldn’t need $8,000 for your goal.
The biggest issue with the LT1 is finding a reliable Optispark. The escape is the EFIConnection or Torquehead 24X conversion. Run the LT1 engine with an LS1 PCM, and 8 LS1 coils. But that can add $1,000+.

Re: Well 260k she finally hurt what’s next
Well what happened was like a dumbass messed around with a 2015 mustang and stayed in 4th too long (about 135mph) and when I shut down I heard a thudder.
its not a kaboom but I’m sure a bearing sounds from passenger front.
Im in the st.louis area so I’m not sure who knows lt1s well enough to be trustworthy.
im thinking 383 stroker 4bolt kit scat kit
and AI head cam package
this is a 6speed btw with bolt ons
