water pump ( yes i did a search)

I was thinking of getting a csi water pump but what is all involved with the instal. I thought that i read somewhere that you have to take the timing chain off???? why do you need to do that. Also what other things do i need when i buy the electric water pump? i know i need a freeze plug but what else? thanks

You don't need to remove your chain.

If you're going to leave the waterpump drive shaft in place you don't even need to remove the timing cover to install an electric waterpump. Just remove the pump, retrofit it with the new electric pump, reinstall, and wire (I modified my car's AIR system to run the waterpump since I ditched the failure prone AIR pump).

The biggest reason to run an electric water pump is so that you CAN run a different timing set though.
