water pump drive

OK so now I busted the drive shaft on the water pump. It broke off at the engine when I was trying to pry the pump off. I was wondering what I can do to take care of this with out taking off the timing cover... Would an electric water pump work?

Depending on how it broke, seems to me the safest thing to do is open the timing cover and take care of it. Never heard of anyone breaking the drive while removing the pump.

Ya, when I work on my car if I break something it tends to be something that no one has ever heard of. My car likes to make me feel like a dumb a$$!

You aren't talking about the water pump drive coupler, are you? It's a metal splined sleeve with a ridge around the end that connects the drive shaft to the pump. It is supposed to come off.

If you actually broke the shaft off in the timing cover, I have a stock one laying around if you want it.
