VERY bad day at dyno

Well, I took my car to the dyno today.

On the way there, the car got a little hotter than normal in traffic, but I didn't think much of it. Get to the track (had a dyno there today), and park, let it cool for 30min or so.

Drive over, get strapped up, and watch the monitor. 5K RPMs hits, and it goes NUTS. 208RWHP/263RWTQ

Second pull. Engine temp about 220. 5K RPMs, line goes everywhere. 202RWHP/254RWTQ

Third pull. Engine temp closing in on the red zone. Once again, 5K RPMs, and it starts missing. 205RWHP/243RWTQ

Get off the dyno, temp is in the red, I shut it down. Fans are dead, and won't come on. Popped the hood, and let it sit for two hours.

So, my fans are dead, cat is clogged, dyno numbers suck, and my opti is probably gone to hell. Only good thing was my A/F.

What a great d@mn day.

Anyone have DETAILED instructions on how to do a manual fan switch on a 94?

Sorry to hear about your dyno nightmare. I think you should buy an aftermarket fan thermostatic switch kit and hook your fans to it. The manual fan deal will get forgot someday somehow and you will melt your ride. Any auto parts store should sell a kit for fans.

Good luck

Get the SLP manual fan switch,it does'nt cost that much and it works great , looks like something the factory would install and you won't have to worry about wiring up your own switch wrong.Just turn it on when ever the car sits idleing.

Thanks man, I'll go look for that.

Offhand, you know how much it costs?

I got the manual fan switch from slp and I like it a lot. It saves me a ton in traffic and you can turn in on in 3 settings. Low...High...and computer operated. I would highly getting this upgrade and is easy to install as well. Unhook the battery. The connectors go in between you stock connectors by your computer...making one long connector. Then you just run it into your car. It is as simple as that. I just went through the same hole as my alarm goes through and then wired it into my ash tray. Flip the lid and turn on the fans...it will consistently keep in below the first line at all times...for me. And as far as leaving it on...my wife has left it on a few times...and it has it never drained my battery like it states. I think it is a good investment. IMO:)

Why not just wire it so that the fans run whenever the car is on? Cheaper, and impossible to forget about.

SLP $64.95

Is it really necissary to have the fans on all the time? Yeah it may be cheaper, but you rarely use the fan switch anyways...in traffic, before a dyno, at the track or red light...Plus the option of high and low is also a good addition...in heavy traffic the high switch is nice and in consistenly moving traffic low is good as well. I don't know much about the other alternative...but this one is great considering I would be bitting my nails in traffic because I was about to overheat:)

I might also add that you might want to go here. http://www.bfranker.badz28.com/ This is the only site I go to more than eBay or this site. Thank you Brent. Keep up the good work!
