I'm planning on getting a set of aluminum valve covers, I just ordered a set of 1.6 Crane Gold RR's. My question is will the Crane's have any clearance issues or will should I get the taller ones. Also will my alternator have any clearance issues if I go with the taller valve covers. Thanks Mike

Fortunately for me, mine are "Custom" aka: previous owner took a hammer to the valve covers to clearance them.

you could always go that route. I dont really mind it since the alternator covers the "custom work" anyways

 

yea I'd hate to have to beat on my new aluminum valve covers.....maybe i'll talke a chance and get the short ones

There is no clearance problem with the Crane 1.6 SA Gold narrow bodies and stock covers. I read that with some (Proform?) tall covers that a small amount of grinding in one spot on the alternator case is all that's necessary. Try a forum search about the brand you want and clearance issues.

Proform 141-131 is what I run, minimal grinding on the alt. is involved. Also available in chrome.
