one more thing. i tried just resetting the ecu. check engine light goes away for about 30 min but car is almost undriveable, once warm up check engine light goes on it runs fine. no hint of a miss at all

Re: cylinder 3 missfire
What year is your car? Its almost impossible to get accurate answers without providing at least the basic info about the car. Add a "signature" with year, model, tranny, major mod's, etc.
Was the SES light flashing? That indicates its a misfire code. A steady light indicates some other code. That's why the year of your car is important, since there is only misfire detction in the 96/97 OBD-II LT1's.

sorry i do have a sig but it didn't show up. it's a 97. i checked the plug it was alittle loose. tightend that cheked the plug wire w/ a multimeter and then came up fine. check engine light went away for alittle car got normal temp and missed and light came on again. all plugs wires and deltec are less then 6 months old.

Re: cylinder 3 missfire
misfires happen because of one or more of 3 things
ignition, fuel delivery or compression
your ignition system does not seem to be the culprit but you cant rule it out just yet
i like to do a compression test just to be sure
maybe run some fuel injector cleaner to try and clear up a sticking injector
