Using pepper to stop coolant leaks???

I was talking to a guy yesterday and he was telling me about all the old muscle cars he's had etc. He's in his 50s now.

Then we get onto the subject of cheap/homemade repairs. He was telling me how rubbing a potato on a hole in the gas tank is a temp fix and good enough to get the car home.

Also how pepper fixes coolant leaks.

He said he wouldn't have believed it either, but he has seen it work and not damage anything.

I'm temped to try the pepper thing in my daytona

Any of you guys ever hear of such things?

I have also heard cinnamon for coolant leaks.

I have used bubble gum(Juicey Fruit) to fix a hole in my 77' F-150's radiator one night. It was still on there 6 months later when I sold it and was still doing the job. :)

the peper will fix small leaks in a coolant system. If you think of how it works its really easy you put a spoon full in and it starts walling up at the leak. Kinda like a rock dam.

Egg whites will work too.

The ONLY way, I would ever use some of that stuff on my car, is if I was stranded in the middle of nowhere, and a house happens to be near by that would let me use some of their condiments to fix the car to get me going.
On the other hand, if you're trying this stuff to fix your car, then you don't deserve to have a car. How much can the real stuff cost at the parts store?
I know what you mean, you'd probably won't use it, but I can guarantee you, there are people here that can't wait to use potato, chili, jalapeņos, to fix their car next time they get a chance.

Pepper works. I've done it several times. (all the time)

The only thing with pepper is if it ever runs hot, everyone wants to know what you are cooking sence is smells like a pot of fully loaded peppered chicken.
