use of the coolant passages in throttle body after bypass
use of the coolant passages in throttle body after bypass
First off, I never use my windshield water squirters. What if you used that tank to run cool fluid through the throttle body, and maybe through a little oil/transmission cooler? worth it? or no? If you put your hand on it after you just drive you car, it still pretty hot, even after the tb bypass.
Re: use of the coolant passages in throttle body after bypass
There have been a couple guys who have taken a small pump and drilled two holes in the cap of the windshield washer reservior (supply and return) and pump ice water through the throttle body while drag racing.
Not sure if it would be worth it to put an actual cooler in there and use it all the time because I don't think it would get cold enough... unless maybe you hooked it to your air conditioner. However, then you'd have the drag of the compressor which would likely negate any gains seen by the cooler throttle body. Sigh... usually can't get something for nothing

I'm assuming it wouldn't be worth it. If you think about it, the TB bypass cools it down A LOT, although there are not much gains (if any at all). Cooling it down only a few more degrees would probably not be worth it IMO.
Re: use of the coolant passages in throttle body after bypass
Does anyone know the exact amout of drop in temp the tb bypass does.. and if I could double the temp drop of the tb bypass. I think it'd be worth it using mostly existing parts on the car. Heck maybe even use the squirter moter to power the fuild going to it. Move the lines and such of course..
Re: use of the coolant passages in throttle body after bypass
how about you try it out, find out how little volume of water the washer fluid motor moves, then find something else to pump it, get it all going, and find out you'd have been better off spending money elsewhere.
but then again, if you want to be orginal, you have to take these kinds of chances. IMO even if you triple the difference in temp versus the t/b bypass, 3 x 2 hp only equals 6hp. not worth it IMO.
