They are an easy job...

I went with Hawk performance friction pads... they work great, they do feel a little wierd 1st thing in the morning, take a stop or 2 to feel solid(like stopping at the edge of the driveway) On the street they are very nice, and when you really heat them up(under hard braking) they grip very well...

this is on stock OEM replacement rotors. They seem to be holding up pretty well and really do not dust too bad. Haven't washed my wheels in 2-3 months, and they are not nearly has bad as Midas pads in a week.

here are some pics I took of my last break job a few months ago...

I compare hawk pads next ot midas stuff...

Really you have 3 options. You can change pads and rotors on the stock brakes, convert to the 98 and later F body brakes, or convert to aftermarket brakes.
You can get the 98+ brake components needed for upgrading from auto dismantlers for typically around $300. Factor in costs for turning the rotors (assuming they are still serviceable), new pads, and front end alignment after the conversion. Also labor if you can't swap out the steering knuckles yourself.
Aftermarket will be the most expensive option but give the most improvement in performance. I just installed Baer brakes a few weeks ago and they are fantastic, a big improvement over the 98+ brakes.
