Unknown vac line? Emissions?
I have a 1994 z28. I bought it a few months ago and it needs a little tlc. There is a clear line with a spring/coil inside running from a bigger line that comes off the top of the motor. It T's off the big line next to the steering column under the hood. The guy before plugged it with a screw? What is this line?

Doesn't sound like anything I ever saw on my 94 LT1, and I bought it brand new. Might want to try and post a picture.
"New Member Introduction" doesn't get a lot of traffic, and isn't the best place to post tech questions. Let's move this to "LT1 Based Engine Tech". |

Re: Unknown vac line? Emissions?
I'm wondering if someone at one time had that tube connected to a vacuum modulator kit that Trans Go sells? The kit replaces the pressure control solenoid in the valve body that is electronically controlled, and makes the trans shift off the engine vacuum like in the old days. For a while, people were doing this in an effort to try to get the transmissions to live, but then later better parts were available and everyone learned to build the transmissions better, so I don't hear of anyone using those any more.

Re: Unknown vac line? Emissions?
Does it look like this? You can see the tube with the springinside it which keeps it from collapsing form the vacuum

Re: Unknown vac line? Emissions?
The line it splits off of runs from the top of the motor over to a round black box on the firewall on the drivers side.

Re: Unknown vac line? Emissions?
That white T is the exact same t thats in my line. And the line is almost identical. The line itself is a lil dry rotted and has a split before the plug. Should i take the line off and plug the inlet on the T?

Re: Unknown vac line? Emissions?
I'll bet that's what it is. It is tapped into the brake booster vacuum line that goes to the intake manifold. Just get as much of it out of there as you can and plug it or cap it off.
