Tuning Program questions

I have a question reagrding tuning programs. I have looked extensively into LT1 Edit and Tunercat, and they seem relatively the same, but the price is a lot different. So, what I was wondering is what kind of gains can I see with LT1 Edit, and what kind of gains can I see with TunerCat. The only mods are listed in Sig, and for now, I want to change fan temps, etc... But I will be adding a cat back and some other things, and I was curious to know what I would see as the car sits now. Otherwise, I will start looking into other mods until this will be more beneficial.
Thanks for the replies!:D

I have a simular set up, mostly stock, bought tunercat. I look at it this way, I have a stock car but plan on a cam, heads, stroker and maybe a blower in the future. I wanted to do a couple of things, I fell into realy cheap gears($25 3.73's new) so I need to change the speedo, I wanted to do fan temps and program out the cags. I looked at a power programmer (about $400), custom tunningat that or more for each time I add something, or tunnercat at $90, a cable for $65. I picked up a used laptop from a computer store,(PII,300, etc.) for $275. So I have 430 in a device that does way more than a powerprogrammer, is way cheaper in the long run than custom tunning, and way handier (no down time sending out the PCM). I dont understand all of tunercat but am learning, I also downloaded Freescan and never will I take to a shop to get the codes read or cleared. so for $430 I figgure I am ahead by far in the long run......I am happy I went this way even tho' I am not using tunercat to it's full potential YET. Your gains with that set up would be minimal but if you plan on more indepth mods............ You decide....

I think you hit the nail on the head.

Thanks for the info, that really helps. What are some of the things that Tunercat can do? I know that you can change speedo settings and fan temps, but what are some of the "power" tunning options that are available? I have heard that people can see anywhere from 10-20 horsepower just by using this tuning. I know that 20 horse is REALLY pushing it, but even 10 would be good for me, because all I need is the software and an interface cable. And for the cash, to even see 10 horse for 150 bucks isn't that bad.

I found that with Tuner Cats and TSS Datamaster I can do anything I want.

That and I can use my tuner cat on my buddies cars, where LT1_Edit is locked to one vin unless you have $1500 to spend.

Once you get into Cats you will find there are more things you can do than you can learn about. But I am trying my best to find it all out.

Give me another few months and I will have my website with the cat Tutorial on it with files and everything.
Our #3 kid is due any day so I have other thing to work on right now.
