tubing

there is this tubing that connects my valve cover to the side of the throttle body. what does that do? i need to get another one since the hose is completly cracked, im guessing it was old. can i put like a filter on it instead or no. thankss

It's part of the pcv system. Lots of people have removed the tube, capped the part on the throttle body it connected to, and slapped a breather in the valve cover. I'm an example. Except for the annual VA inspection.. It goes back on along with the AIR junk for 1 day a year :)

Another train of thought is that x amount of air is expected to be siphoned off from the TB which the pcm accounts for and should not be mucked with by going the breather route. From this perspective, you should just replace the hose with a new one and call it a day.

So now you have a basic summary of both sides, the choice is yours as to how you want to proceed.

cant it hurt anything?

Like he said, you can cap it at the tb and put a filtered breather in the valve cover to vent crankcase pressure, or you can get a new hose and put it back to stock. Either way is ok.
