Is it True???
Is it True???
i know i know, i just did a thread about what cam to get on stock heads BUT....i was doing some research and found out that the CRAN CAM 210/224 is probly the best cam on stock heads
well i have seen the best times on that cam on stock heads...why is that cam so good, it aint even a big cam or anything

It depends. Some cams react differently to different cars. It also depends on the mods you already have.
There are so many variables. Do some research on all the different cams you are thinking about, then pick which one you think will work best for you. Don't just pick a cam because a couple a people tell you that's the best cam for stock heads.
There will never be a "right" answer to this question.

well to let you know my mods so far consist of
as&m headers and y-pipe not cats
borla exhuast
160 termo
409 race wires
ngk spark plugs
cran coil
ram air
ported t/b
those are just mt engine mods.......with those mods im pretty sure the cran cam should be a good choice or the 224/230

Give Combonation Motorsports a call. They can give you a pretty good idea of what cam would work best with your mods.

They suggested the ex224/230 for me, so I did some research and thought it would work the best for my car.

I did lots and lots of research before selecting the
Crane 227. The most information is related to the
SS Impala crowd. I am in the same situation as you
in that I want a very stock sound and good performance
with stock heads, computer, etc.
The tendency on this board is towards way big cams
and therefore the recommendations you get are along
those lines. Lumpity, lumpity, lump, lower vacuum,
head porting recommended and headers a must.
I have not installed the 227 yet, but I am sure that
it will make me very happy based on what I have
researched. If you are only interested in a step above
stock, you should definately consider the 227.
I have some dyno information from Crane that tested
a stock f-body 94 LT1 with cast iron exhaust manifolds.
The cam w/1.5s was good for 30 HP and w/1.6s 35 HP
over the stock cam. I would imagine that will just
improve with bolt-on mods. I got 12 rwhp over a 3"
flowmaster cat-back system with my true duals so I
don't think headers are a must.
My plan is to extrude hone a set of cast iron manifolds
w/a little port matching for installation w/the 227. I hope
to see 35+ rwhp with the cam. I will post results but it
won't be for a few months.

I have a used 210/224 for sale.
Let me know if interested.
My car ran low 12's at 112 - 113 mph with CNC heads, AS&M headers, Vigilante 2800, bolt-on's.
On street tires, I ran 11.60 at 126 mph with this cam and a blower.
Idles smooth.
