transmission not working right?

transmission not working right?
1993 A4. whenever i am crusing at a normal speed and decide to get on the gas hard the transmission doesnt seem to down shift, it just goes from wherever its at. will a computer tune help, i am clueless. other then that the transmission seems to work fine.
