track results of LE heads-xe 224/230

this was my 1st trip to the track. the density altitude was 3500, and the track prep was non existant. i felt like i was trying to pull out in the rain!!!! it was so slick i couldnt give me more than 1/4 throttle in first gear without bad wheel spin, i couldnt FLOOR it until around 50mph in 2nd. but once the car hooked it had great top end. i was running michelin street tires (25psi). here is my best time slip:
60' 2.54
330' 6.48
1/8 9.45 mph-82.95
1000' 12.0
1/4 14.13 mph 106.27

keep in mind that a bone stock 02 z28 a4 ran consistant 14.1 at 100MPH.

(note to self- next mod ET streets)
what do you all think????

Dude those times suck! Sorry to be so blunt, but you shouldve been running those times without the heads and cam.

My buddy has a full bolt on LT1 with the xe 224/230 cam and stock heads and he runs 89 mph in the 1/8!

Those times aren't too hot. You should have been trapping 106 before the heads/cam. I understand the track prep sucked and you weren't able to launch the car hard, so there is a lot left in it. You may see 107-108 mph and high 12s - low 13s with ET Streets. 3000' DA is nothing really. I ran the times in my sig in ~ 4000' DA with stock heads and stock tuning.

Get some tires and see what she'll do. Good luck w/it!

I don't think you can make a judgement at that track. You said the track prep sucked, and w/ a 2.5 60' I believe you. You ran a 14.1...but, at 106, which should give you a very low 13. I'd say with some traction (yes better tires, but good track prep. is important too), you should be in the 12's.

Just my humble opinion,
Dave

not to mention i have removed backseats, front sway bar, carpet padding, both cats, heat shields for the exhaust, front bumper support, the x brace behind the tranny. but i added KB sfc, and driveshaft loop.
im going to get the car weighed. im thinkin its around 3650 without me (140lbs)

im going to get a scanmaster, do a compression check, and see what i can come up with. its disappointing to spend $$$$ and run slower than most guys with small cam and bolt ons
but theres room for lots of improvement....
maybe a n20 kit would help me feel better

106mph before heads and cam?? He has an A4 convertible!!

Your times reflect upon your putrid 60'. Go to a track that preps and put some slicks on there and you shouldn't have a problem running mid-low 12's with a good(1.6-1.7) 60'.

Yes, 105-106 with bolt-ons. Do you not pay attention to what bolt-on LT1 cars run? He also has some weight reduction done. Those times are horrible. Whether it is a function of the track, track prep or whatever...the times aren't very good. I'm not bashing this guy or his car, but he asked for opinions and that's what he is getting. We've all been there at one time or another with our cars.

I only ran 103mph with bolt-ons and I have a coupe. Of course this all depends where your track is at and what the DA is there.

But his times suck and can be greatly improved upon.

im still in shock that i spun so bad, my first run i launched a little harder than i do on the street, 1st gear spun so hard that smoke was boiling off the tires (my wife videotaped me ) it shifted into second spun harder started going sideways, i let off the gas got it under control, looked at my speedo 40mph, floored it and got really bad wheel spin until around 60, then it hooked and started pulling really hard.
i thought i should have gained more than 23mph in the last half of the track? what do you all think?

Well, spinning usually gives you more mph and yours is pretty low.

Spinning does NOT increase mph.
