Torque converter?

I have a LT4 hot cam and I'm in the process of putting in a 383 with LT4 Heads, what stahl should I go with? Also which vigilante should I buy, single, three, or five disc? Also do these converters have any bad effects on the tranny, its 100% bone stock? Do I need a shift kit?

Re: Torque converter?

I had a 2800 stall on my car with the HOTcam. For comparison I had a stock bottom end, home ported heads, the HOTcam and all the bolt ons. I should have gone higher on the stall on mine. I think a 3000 or 3200 stall would be fine for you. You'll need a shift kit and a transmission cooler, they are both necesary.

I'm not familiar with "single, three or five disk", sorry.

I would suggest going with a bigger cam before you worry about a converter. A 383 with a LT4 Hot Cam is like being givven the chance to be a **** star and having a 3" *****.

yeah, if you go 383... you need a bigger cam. The hotcam is a mild very streetable cam, you would be killin that 383 with it. I love my hotcam tho, but im not goin for a crazy setup (as you can see from the sig).

Re: Torque converter?

Yeah rethink the cam.
On the stall 2800 in a 9.5" unit should be your minimum consideration with 3-3200 being more likely right. There are other quality brands which could save you enough over the Vig to pay for a new cam. On the lockup discs all you need is a single, clutch material has come a long ways since the 5 disc units were introduced and they are nearly pointless these days because of those advances.
