Timing chain install help
Why does Haynes and Shbox have you remove the timing chain with #1 at TDC with both the crank and cam sprockets dots at 12:00 and install at #6 TDC with the crank at 12 and the cam at 6?
Am I missing something? Thanks |
Re: Timing chain install help
Just align them dot to dot and you'll be fine.

Re: Timing chain install help
I don't recall my site saying anything about where it has to be to remove the cover. The crank 12 and cam 6 is just for ease of viewing the relationship of the dots. 12 and 12 works, too, but harder to judge.

Realized that 1 and 6 are TDC at the same time so it does not matter as long as the cam is set for for either one.
