Got timing cover off. With no. 1 spark plug removed, the only time it comes up on compression both cam and crank sprocket marks are at 12:00.can timing chain jump that far without damage to motor..it still turns fine. How do i realign to get back to TDC . can i just turn the cam shaft??

 

There is nothing wrong with your timing. It is correct for #1 TDC. Dots together is #6 TDC.
