Timing chain

Is there a place i could buy just a replacement chain for my timing gears without having to buy a whole set?

Thanks,

Any auto parts store or dealer.

The question is why would you want to put a new chain on old, worn gears? The new chain will wear into the worn pattern of the old gears in no time.

imo if the gears are in good shape why spend 200 bucks on a set when you can get a cloyes chain as meangreen stated for 13 bucks. i did the same thing.

If there are any kind of miles on them, they are worn. It's that simple.

LT1 chains suffer from enough slack as it is. The chain is only part of the equation.

You could use the rationale that the chains hardly ever break, so why change it at all? But not too many people do that.

Oh, and a stock set is well under $100 (heck, even a Cloyes double roller is).

Obviously, how you treat your car is up to you.

you should never replace only the chain, thats asking for trouble.

like rob stated the new chain will wear into the old sprockets and the chances of failure are way up

but its all up to you, it is your car. i personally run a factory gm chain and sprockets
