thought it was the opti

my car has a miss...so ive changed the
maf...map...o2
fuel pump..filter...
wires..plugs..coil...
so yesterday decited to pull the fuel rails and injectors and prime to check for leaky injector...none leaked...did pull the crossover tube apart though...and cant get them to go back together fully
so then decide to do the opti even though its only a year old...well i get it apart and one of the screws for the rotor was completely loose... and fallen out...this happened before so we locktighted it last time...well it didnt help the other screw in there was backed out slightly basically making the rotor free to do whatever...so i put a brand new opti car rotor ect...lock tight the screws and take it out for a run...still has a miss but now it pulls up to 5000 exactly...and bruudum bruudum bruudum...acts like car has a revlimitor...
can a new opti do this? or where should i be looking? i double checked everything...

Re: thought it was the opti

check your coil and vacuum leaks,
mine was acting the same way, I found a leaking seal at the TB and the coil connector was not in all the way. I just bought my 94Z money pit 2 wks ago.

Re: thought it was the opti

Why don't you try a complete replacement opti. You may have a bad optical sensor in the opti housing.

Did you replace the entire opti, or just the cap and rotor?

Re: thought it was the opti

I sware LT1s are the worste running motors at times. I remember my old L98 NEVER ran bad and when it did it was alot easier to fix lol. I have similar problems and am looking for a way to fix em.

Re: thought it was the opti

TTT, I would love to see an answer for this one. I also have the "rev-limiter" like miss at 4500 rpm. I've replaced or checked same things you have minus the opti. And I dont like the way the ICM stares at me when I open the hood... do these things start to go bad or do they just die altogether? they're $130 to replace at a dealer!!!

P.s. my car also runs RICH as hell which drives me nuts, even with brand new O2s

Not to beat a dead horse, however, when you say "I replaced the opti...and the cap and rotor" I am not sure what you are saying.

A FULL opti replacement doesn't require you to do anything with the cap and rotor. It's already put togother, I think that's what smoknta was asking.
