autometer says not to install the sender directly on the rail or motor since the vibration can cause it to go bad. My friend found this out after he went through a couple of senders. Mount it with rubber isolators the firewall or somewhere there isn't too much vibration. not sure if this applies to other brands of elec. FP senders.
