Hey guys,
I think my alternator is dieing. When i drive arond at night and hit the gas my check gages light comes on and the speedo kinda freaks out...also my lights dim. Drivin around during the day i have no problems...but if i turn accessories on (lights etc...)the check gauges light comes on under hard acceleration. I'm gonna get it tested before i go buy a new one but...it seems like its going bad.

Having said that...anyone know where i can get a cheap good alternator?

 

Do you have a loss of pwr under load or anything like that? I'd get it checked it 1st but it sounds like the alt. Mine drops serious voltage when I get above 2K rpm's and it almost feels like it missing. My lights don't go batty but it'll trigger the ABS light when the voltage gets too low. I'd like to know where I can get another alternator too.

 

You can get a cheap rebuilt one at any parts store and most of the time they give you a lifetime warrenty.

 

Sounds like a bad ground.

 

I'm sorta having the same problem but my car is sputtering and the abs inop and the ASR off light comes on but mine is holding above 14 volts and I haven't had mine tested yet. If I have to replace mine I don't think I would mess with one of the rebuilt ones, I've heard they are a risky take.

 

I was having some of the Dimming Lights low voltage... I checked the alternator before I did anything....It was reading 13.6 I checked everything.....Turns out it was the fuel pump ...Now I have 14.2 volts...

 

How did you know it was the fuel pump? I am only showing 13 volts on my scanner
