Re: is there a replacement for the optispark?

There are several aftermarket choices, most of which INCORPORATE the optispark, and several very high dollar aftermarket ignition systems that actually do completely replace it. I have my eye on the Delteq system, which removes the main body of the optispark (rotor portion) and uses 4 cadillac ignition coils mounted to your driver's side valve cover and a computer module. It is effectively a distributor less system, but it still uses the original optical sensor. This is NOT what usually fails. Let me know if you'd like more info

Technically the cap and rotor remain in place, they just cease to function.

Re: is there a replacement for the optispark?

Well, thats a open ended question

People have been known to drill out a hole in the back of the LT1 intake manifold and use very slim distributors. This requires alot of work and is not nessacary in 99% of cases.

Alot more people (including myself) are ditching the "Spark" part of the "Opti-Spark". With a Opti-less system from Delteq you still use the opti for cam timing, but you have individual coils controled by a ICM that is fed from a Opti-Box that takes its signal from the PCM.

It is not truely "opti-less", but has been known to make the opti alot less prone to fail, and opti's that have failed in some cases dont even have to be replaced if you use a Delteq setup.

Visit there site at www.delteq.com

There are a few options, one of which is the Delteq, which is one of the best.

The others are:

and the LTCC ignition system.

Yep, the LTCC works really well. It's a bit more work to install than a Delteq system though.
