Tb Gaskets
Tb Gaskets
Has anybody ever had a idle problem due to a bad gasket on the throtle body cover, the plastic one on top. I was going to make a new one, removed the old one and replaced the rubber gasket with the orig, is this a prob or can I get a new one and if so a part number. My car is running rough like a vac leak, but can't find.

A leak at that gasket is not a vacuum leak in the strict sense, but could slightly upset air/fuel calculations. Really nothing that the pcm could not compensate for. If you need a gasket, then you definitely should replace it, but I would not expect it to solve too many problems. I would get the gasket swapped out and then see what happens.
thanks for the input, I plan on getting a new gasket today, do you have any suggestions, I just got the car back together, and found this prob. fixed my piston, rings ect, now, i need some advise on this new prob any would be appriciated.
SURGE? what is this condition, I'm experiencing some "surging"
i guess, I'm not sold on the idea of a vac leak, however, my wires may be at fault as well, considering I just got the moter together. is there a way to tell? and where are the wires most likley to be arcing at with the stock manifold

I dont think you can see the plugs from above to determine if its arcing. I have headers and its clear as day to see it. I can see blue spark coming on the plug wire boot. I'm gonna replace them this weekend, hopefully. It sound like my problem, my car shakes at stoplights, and rpms jump slightly. As the problem progressed i gained a backfire under acceleration too. If these are your symptoms then i would check out the wires, for sure. -Michael
