Question T56 trans

I bought a 96ss 3 months ago.it had 19500 miles on it.Very clean car like new.I notice when i went through drive through at the bk .That the trans made a slight rattle noise. When the clutch is released and sound goes away when clutch pedal is pressed in; kinda sounds like rocks in a can. The transmission makes no noise when driven. Car changes gears really well.Clutch grabs strong. I changed the fluid in the trans, it was clean. I have driven the car appox 1000 miles. The noise has stayed the same. Is it typical for these trans to make some noise?Since they do carry a thin atf. thanks Mike

I think they all do it to some degree or another, I've had 3 Z28's , 2-94's & 1-97 and they all did it, The 97 was the worst.

i agree, definitely the T.O.bearing. Not so much a safety issue as a pain in the ***.

My 96 has rattled since the day it was new. Think of it as a rattlesnake sound to scare away all the cars with a horse on them.

Nothing to worry about, enjoy your SS, you found a beautiful, low mileage car.
