For that kind of cost how would a single plane gen1 intake retrofitted compare?

Re: SUPER RAM LT1 INTAKE gains 60lbs of TQ

I don't know for sure, But I have always heard the reason that LTX based motors can't make crazy power like the LSX and Old SBC motors is because of the lack of a good intake. This intake will make the Torque and probably even make a few extra ponies on a well modded motor. READ the artical I have in the original post about the dyno's they did with it and the modifications between dyno's Each time the SR makes more peak RPM.

Check this out:

www.stealthram.com

http://stealthram.com/flowcomparison.html

Lots of runner lengths and flow tests here. That's my favorite SBC-style injection intake.

I know its a little Pricey but hell you have to pay 850 for a Fast LSx intake, so I think with a modifyed setup in a Auto Car this is IDEA for sure.
I would get LE to port this intake for even more airflow. This intake matched with a Well ported AFR head and a extra 33-46 cubes would probably make 500RW Torque and probably around 440-470 RWHP at only 6,300 RPM
That's $850 without the base. The base will run about another $250-300 if its still even made. I ran the superram when I had a 3rd gen IROC. Definately a HUGE improvement over the stock intake, but the install was rediculous and it was hard to keep it from leaking.

Well actually I think thats for everything man, I will call them tomarrow and see though. There is a base anyways on Ebay. But to make sure I will call tomarrow. There is another kit on ebay brand new as well that comes with a 58mm TB and for it is 1,199 and that would make since being that a TB is about 400-500.

Yep, they are really popular w/ the L98 (tpi) corvette guys. Not the best choice for us LT1/4 guys.

I would suspect the Superram will short change you on HP past 5500. It woudl be interesting to see what exactly it will do on a LT1.

Re: SUPER RAM LT1 INTAKE gains 60lbs of TQ

Just got off the Phone with LPE and the they do still sell it but it is a different part number. Instead of $865 it is $995. The more expensive one is for the LTX guys and is not as tall so it will fit. Then you have to buy the base which is $499 and then L98 fuel rails. Yea pretty Pricey. The sale rep did tell me this they use to put it on all Automatic cars and and make awsome streetable power and had no probably reving them. Alvin@PCMforless look at my original post about this intake. Each time they put another mode on the car the Effective RPM range moved up. So the more modifyed the engine the higher the RPM you can rev it Effectively over the power and LTX intake would make, not to mention about 60lbs of Torque.

Torque whens races fellas. I asked him also why more people didn't go this rought and he said 1,500 for and intake is alot of money, I laughed and said yea it is. Something to think about if you can get deals on this stuff

Re: SUPER RAM LT1 INTAKE gains 60lbs of TQ

I think you need to re-read the article

The combination allowed the Super Ram to nearly match the peak power output (372hp to 375hp) but doing so at a much lower engine speed (4900 RPM vs. 5700 rpm) resulted in a dramatic increase in low-speed torque production.
If you re-read it and cut threw the BS they don't get the 5100 rpm power back until they add a cam but they never test a cammed LT1 Stock intake vs. Superram. They just sorta weeded around the subject to get the results they where looking for.

I'll bet that if you tested a Cammed LT1 stock intake vs. Superram you would find nearly the same thing, the Superram does more at lower RPM but the LT1 ends up pulling harder longer.

The results they are finding are consistant with what I see on L98 cars that I tune. You may think that gobbs of extra torque is healthy but when it comes down to it theres more than that. I recently had a report from a guy who went from a 14.1 to a 13.7 with just switching intakes that would make less TQ but more HP.

I have anthor article that is definately worth reading on this subject. Give me about 30 minutes and i'll find it somewhere.

Re: SUPER RAM LT1 INTAKE gains 60lbs of TQ

These two sum it up,

If you want something to compare these things too, the Miniram (I have heard from very reputable sources) was either inspiration to or from the LT1 intake. Its output should be very simular

http://thirdgen.org/techbb2/attachme...postid=2160978

A complete topic on this subject can be found here,
http://thirdgen.org/techbb2/showthre...n&pagenumber=3

Stock TPI (410hp, 500lb-ft)
Edelbrock High-Flo (431hp, 501lb-ft)
Extrude Hone base & LTR (451hp, 534lb-ft)
TPIS Big Mouth System (460hp, 534lb-ft)
ASM Siamesed Runners (464hp, 510lb-ft)
SLP T-Ram (466hp, 495lb-ft)
Accel Super Ram (480hp, 506lb-ft)
Holley single plane (493hp, 480lb-ft)
Holly Stealth Ram (501hp, 493lb-ft)
MiniRam (505hp, 471lb-ft) (Very simular to LT1 intake)

That being said, I think the best all out intake is the holley stealth ram, its got both a nice compromise in runner length/crosssectional area and plenty of plenum volume.

Re: SUPER RAM LT1 INTAKE gains 60lbs of TQ

Very, Very good read Alvin, Its truely amzing how an intake will change up things that much.
I would say that the Accel SR did quite good though
http://members.***.net/skeptical_independent/10.jpg
Over 500 lbs of Torque at jut 4,100 and max Hp redline at 5,700-6,000 was roughly the same.
Your right though the Holley made about 20 More Hp but about 15 less Torque. It appeared it peaked about 6,000 too. Nice in my opinion.
I suppose its all about what the person wants.

I have a question though Can the Lt1 guys use this Holley steath ram, IF we use this peice http://www.lingenfelter.com/store/74197l.html
Its from ligenfelter and is the botton intake peice to convert to using the Accel Superram. I would suppose it would let the Holley steath ram bot on as well. What do you guys think. Also would it fit under the hood. The superram will, will the holley.

Re: SUPER RAM LT1 INTAKE gains 60lbs of TQ

No a stealth ram is totally different than that typical TPI setup.

It shouldn't be too hard to convert anything over, just push a freeze plug in the distributor hole and block off the thermostat houseing. There are a few intake bolt holes you'll have to modify but its nothing a competent machine shop couldn't do.

Guys have been making LT1 intakes work on SBC's for years, you definately have to be able to go the other way around.

The holley is pretty tall.

I think honestly all of this talk has people excited to spend money where they dont' really need. Let me reword that, I think money can be better spent on a nice set of heads and a matching cam for 99.99% of the people here. The LT1 is blessed from the factory with a pretty awesome high RPM intake with nice smooth and strong torque.

Did you see the MiniRam? It did damn good in the test and is nearly identical to a LT1 style intake.

It would be cool if someone tried to cut the top of a stock LT1 intake, extended the runners anthor 2-3 inches and made a box to increase plenum volume

Re: SUPER RAM LT1 INTAKE gains 60lbs of TQ

Anthor interesting point is to look at the torque graph of the Super Ram

By 5600RPM is is over. While the MR and stealth ram are doing well still. In fact the Superram is about 50rwtq short at 6000RPM Lets be frank, going down the track in your typical F-body is between 4400-6000 at least. The only time the Super ram is going to help you and not hurt is in the 60'
