Strange intermittent squeak
Strange intermittent squeak
Now I put in a new alternator the other day, but now I got this odd squeak that will some times go in and out, but it sounds like a bearing going out. From the sound of it, it is coming from either the alternator, which would make sense, or the ac. My question is has anybody ever had a problem with one of the bearings in one of the other pulleys? Or any other ideas that you have? I haven't pulled it apart yet but I'm sure it is one of the accessories.
Man I just put a new alt. on my car and when it idels down really low (like 500-600rpm cause of no tune yet) it rattles inside really bad. Im gonna pull mine back off and take it back to the guys at Advance auto and ask for another. It doesnt charge worth a dang either. It hardly ever gets over the middle mark on my stock gauge. My old one that I took off sqeeked sometimes and I didnt charge at all.

That is my assumtion on what is happening to me, except from NAPA. Should have bought Pontiac but oh well. This will be the third one. Where does everybody's gauge read on volts, mine is just a little bit above the 13 about 13.5-14.

If the alt is working properly, it should read around 13.8 to 14.2 volts....
