Stock TB flow?? Why upgrade?

Can someone tell me how many CFM the stock TB is (MM too)? and when/why would I need more? (besides increasing CID)

I remember seeing a discussion on this same subject that went on for about four pages a while back. I can't remember the exact numbers that you are wanting but I do know that it was decided that unless you are very heavily modded then it wouldn't make a difference anyways. It is better to spend your 2 or 300 dollors on something worth it, like headers, RR, something. I thought about the same thing some time ago. You can probably do a search and find a discussion or two on it.

I'm not sure of the cfm but the stock tb is 48mm.

I remeber reading somewhere that the stocker flows around 650 CFM.

Two 48mm blades, is 96mm, thats a lot bigger than an ls1 tb, and they do fine with a stock one for awhile, it wouldnt be worth it for 3-400$

It doesn't work like this, the relation is not linear. It goes like this: 48 * 48 * 2 = 4608.
I don’t know how big the single bore LS1 tb, but a single bore that is sqrt(4608) = 68mm will flow the same as stock LT1.

You know, its crazy that you actually know that! So why isn't it linear? Why doesn't it come out to 96mm?

There was a post about this a while ago. I still don't know whether it's worth it to fork out the 300+ for one.

Here's a link about it. http://web.camaross.com/forums/showt...&highlight=CFM

I don't need one, but I put a 52mm TB from BBK on mine cause I bought it used for a cheap price. I knew I would put one on one day, and since I found it cheap, I went ahead and got it.
