still having problems

well i have a previous post about the same probelm but it has changed a little bit i have a 95 trans am and i have recently changed the opti cap and rotor for a msd, put new taylor spiro otvc wires on it put an accel coil on it, a new icm, and put new O2 sensors on it before i did all that it was missfiring like crazy then once i got everything but the new O2's on there it would run for about ten or fifteen mins. before it started missfiring once i got on here to try and fix the problem people told me to get it scanned and try the O2 sensors. The local auto zone is all people that have no idea what they are talking about and say that there is no way to scan it due to the OBD2 connector on a OBD1 computer allthough someone on here told me how they wont do it and now the car runs fine for bout thirty five to fourty five mins and starts to cut out so with not being able to get any codes read i have no idea where to look next all i really want is my car back lol its been a daily driver now for bout three months before all that my neon finally broke down and quit and i would rather get the the ta running first any help is very much appreciated if i didnt list enough here just ask im at a loss guys i just dont know what to do now

There is a way to scan it, obviously. Not sure if the "jumper" way works on our cars or not. I know in my 89 it did(keep in mind I do not think 89's were OBD I lol). You put a paper clip or something similer in two certain ports in the connector, and see how many times the SES blinks etc, that "could" tell you the codes, however like I said no clue if that works on our cars. There is also several scan tools out that can read OBD I no problem, which is what I would look for.

Forgot to add that when it starts running bad both fans kick on and the SES light comes on but as soon as the fans turn off the light goes out i dont know what that is eithier

The '93 model year was the last year the "jumper" method would work.

You need to find someone with a scan tool that can read the '95. A standard OBDI tool can read them, if you use some jumpers to connect the correct pins to the tool. Shoebox has an illustration on his site. The fans come on because the SES is on, not the other way around.

Autozone and the other parts places that read codes, does not supply an OBDI code reader for the people to use. Only OBDII, although it is possible that some stores happen to have an OBDI code reader available.

An independent service garage will likely have a scanner like those from Snap-on.
